Bathabile K. S. Mthombeni, J.D, M.S.LOD, PCC
(She/Her/Hers)
Bathabile has never met a stranger.
She loves talking with people and her special talent is helping individuals and groups to uncover what lives beneath their most treasured values and beliefs. She is passionate about guiding often challenging conversations about difference, identity, power, and equity in society.
For as long as she can remember, Bathabile has been fascinated by how societies work and by how power is distributed in society. As a child born under Apartheid in South Africa she learned very early on that, often, differences are made between people on the basis of their identities and different amounts of value are attributed to people on the basis of those differences. Her dissatisfaction with how these differences operate has fueled her quest to help find better ways for people to live together even when they are not the same.
Bathabile is a coach, mediator, ombudsperson, and the founder of Untangled Resolutions, a company dedicated to combining conflict management and DEIB consulting services for organizations. She is also the founder of Come Abide Here, a company dedicated to bringing people together to talk about difficult things.
Bathabile earned an A.B. in Sociology, cum laude, from Princeton University, a J.D. from Columbia Law School, and a graduate coaching certificate and M.S. in Leadership and Organizational Development from the Naveen Jindal School of Management at the University of Texas at Dallas. She holds a PCC level certification from the International Coach Federation.
She is a dedicated human companion to five dogs and two cats. She is an avid yarn crafter and a singer/songwriter/guitarist who has performed on New York City’s subway platforms and once lived in a tent.
